Lamm c lick the links for the Russian text and ML3 images printed in the magazine. A head of the company, Vladimir Lamm — well-known to the radio amateurs of the former USSR as Vladimir Shushurin — developed a concept and topology of the GM tube-based amplifier over 20 years ago.
The realization of this concept took tremendous effort, huge financial investments and engagement of the best transformer manufacturers in the world. The working prototype was shown last year at CES ; this CES, the production unit debuted in a system with Wilson Audio Maxx2 speakers, which, by the way, are the not the easiest to drive. Rest assured that in this case, the first few watts appear to be as good as it gets in the domain of single-ended designs.
The custom output trannies are capable of wider bandwidth at full power than competing designs. In other words, bass and treble response are not compromised for the sake of an exquisite midrange. The 32Wpc Lamm ML3 Signature amplifier with its mate, the LL1 Signature preamplifier, take the definition of the absolute sound and turn it on its head.
For 30 years, the illusion of live unamplified instruments in space has been a hallmark of this publication. I believe this dynamic duo from Vladimir Lamm approaches what we all seek in the reproduction of music — the actual sound of live instruments in space.
These statement products, I dare say, do the near impossible. The first being the electronic haze, though ever so slight, that amplifiers unavoidably add to the image of the instrument and the air surrounding it.
The second coloration, and most egregious, is the old nemesis, midbass overhang. I am very enthusiastic that designers like Lamm recognize that sonic neutrality is not the only key to the authentic recreation of the musical event.
There are also numerous subconsciousreferences that our perception systems process when we listen to music. There is no exaggeration of the harmonic envelope or chewy caramel texture to sink your teeth into. There is nothing at all added to the instrumental image. It pops right up, living and breathing—right there in front of you. The Lamms somehow rebuild the DNA of the instrument itself. And it is this, and also their price, which set the Lamms apart from other reference amplifiers.
Notwithstanding the reputation, and completely ignoring the price, we have here an extraordinary product. It does exactly what it is designed to do: realistically reproduce music. Mind you, the cost of entry is high, oh so very high, but the performance is even higher. They redefine the state of the audio art. They are the actual sound. Marc Mickelson, SoundStage! September The fact that it comes in the company of truly extended and complete bass and treble, along with the ability to drive a wide array of speakers, points to this SET amp being more than a different breed — a new species.
However, especially in trying economic times, the Lamm ML3 Signature occupies a very small market — even smaller than similarly priced speakers, whose sheer size helps them make a case for their high cost. That will make the ML3 Signature amps right for some very wealthy people and objects of fantasy to the rest of us.
So it goes. Jealousy will get you nowhere. Super-charged SET amplifiers — bass depth and power for sure, but also an unerring transition to the midbass and above along with a wonderfully animated midrange and refinement to the extreme. There is an intricate dance between resolution and naturalness, the sense that the amps are laying bare all musical detail in a very graceful way. This can make solid-state amps, even very good ones, sound crude and uninvolving by comparison, and it advances even further what SET amps traditionally do best.
The separate power supply has six 12AX3 tubes as rectifiers and a custom-designed and -built transformer…The circuit outputs 32 watts — a healthy amount of power for a SET amp…Input is either single-ended RCA or pseudo-balanced XLR, and speaker connections are included for 4-, 8-, and ohm loads. The ML3 Signature is said to deliver its full rated power into any of these loads. The following data represents the ML3 as performed by an independent party: Mr. Bascom H.
Wanting to rack mount your new amps? By combining years of design experience, with a thorough understanding of recent advances in audio technology, we were able to determine several areas where we could improve on our previous designs. After carefully weighing all the options, we kept the best features of our previous models, added some new technology where we determined it would actually deliver significant improvements, and optimized several operating parameters to ensure that it would all work together flawlessly.
The new Third Generation represents a substantial improvement for our highly acclaimed XPA series of amplifiers — and delivers improvements in both technical performance and sound quality.
One of the main limitations of traditional amplifier designs has always been the power supply. Until recently, a power supply that could deliver enough current to run a modern high-powered amplifier required a bulky transformer and large filter capacitors. While these traditional power supplies delivered good performance, they were heavy, expensive, and inefficient.
For years, precision components like preamps and processors used regulated power supplies, but regulated supplies powerful enough to be used in large amplifiers remained complex and prohibitively expensive. One of the design enhancements shared by all of our new XPA power amplifiers is our new, specially designed, high current, switch mode power supply SMPS. Our powerful, intelligent new power supply offers all of the benefits of a classic transformer-based design but avoids virtually all of the limitations.
It can deliver over 3 kW of fully regulated power, which ensures optimum performance under a wide range of load conditions, and plenty of dynamic power to ensure that musical peaks will never be compressed or limited. At low power levels, the output stage operates on a relatively low supply voltage, to minimize quiescent power consumption and standby power losses. Then, when the demand for power increases, it instantly and seamlessly switches to a higher voltage rail to ensure that the signal passes cleanly and without clipping.
This process happens on a continuous basis - in real time, allowing greater overall efficiency, cooler operation, longer component life, reduced power consumption, and increased reliability. Assembling products here in the USA gives us exceptional control over every facet of the design and production process, which helps us build the highest quality products for our customers while minimizing unnecessary complications and production delays.
Each Emotiva amplifier is carefully designed with premium components to deliver a stunningly capable, reliable, and refined system. Note: To ensure that amplifier channels are always installed properly, and function to our specifications, amplifier modules must be installed by Emotiva, or by your local authorized Emotiva service representative. Balanced and unbalanced inputs for compatibility with a wide variety of preamps and surround sound processors. Regulated switch mode power supply combines massive power capability, high reliability, excellent performance, and reduced weight.
True audiophile monoblock. Universal AC power automatically selects the proper line voltage for easy installation in a wide variety of locations. Comprehensive yet transparent protection circuitry protects from most common fault conditions without degrading sound quality.

These cheap car amplifiers are now available in various types such as two channel amplifiers, four channel amplifiers, five channel amplifiers and monoblock.
However, all these types are now widely available on the market, so anyone can easily buy this monoblock amp for cars that offer the best sound quality. However, most of these amps work on couples of various channels with two various input signals. Overall, the process of monoblock uses single amplifier system for single channel and an individual amplifier system for another channel.
This can be a main advantage, because there is a minimal cross talk between the signals. This means that, there is no distortion of sound. Primary Menu. What is a 4 way speaker?
