· How a bitter Bob Dylan song inspired a happy Sonny & Cher song. “It Ain’t Me Babe” stands as one of Dylan’s many masterpieces. It’s a very bitter song. It inspired a yin to its yang.
A smitten Sonny offered to let Cher stay at his crib; he was struck by her singing voice from the outset. Sonny brought her to a Spector session to sing backgrounds, and in February of '64 Bono and his discovery cut their first duet, "The Letter" (another Don & Dewey chestnut from the Specialty days), for Vault Records as Caesar & Cleo.
Cher has had three careers that place her indelibly in the public consciousness, and two have been in association with her then-husband, composer/producer/singer Salvatore "Sonny" Bono (b. Febru, d. January 8, ).
· Producer Sonny Bono. All I Really Want to Do is the debut solo studio album by American singer-actress Cher and was released on Aug, by Imperial Records. The album was produced for Cher by her then husband and singing partner, Sonny Bono, with contributions from arranger Harold Battiste.
A follow-up album, featuring her covers of contemporary hits such as "Fire and Rain," sold well also, and her next single, "The Way of Love," a revival of a mid-'60s Kathy Kirby hit, solidified the image of a new, more confident and powerful Cher. And the debut of the couple's regular network variety series on CBS in January brought them.
